Blackberry received another Whatsapp support extension until December 31, 2017
Back in February last year, the Facebook-owned service – Whatsapp announced that they are ending support for Blackberry OS including BB10 by end of 2016 but that didn’t happen. The company extended the support until June 30, 2017.
Now, a new report has emerged and confirmed that Whatsapp has extended its support for Blackberry devices yet again – till 31 December 2017. Further to the support confirmation, WhatsApp’s Blackberry users has started receiving a new update, with change-log clearly saying: changed client end-of-life date to December 31, 2017. I think this will be a big relief to those that are still stock in Blackberry.
However, BlackBerry is not the only device that is receiving support extension. The company also confirmed that Nokia S40 has also been extended to end of this year. The app, however, will stop working on Nokia S60 devices after June 30 2017.
I think Whatsapp is giving users of Blackberry and Nokia S40 the enough time they needed to upgrade from this ‘dying so soon devices’ to latest smartphone devices.
