After several years of waiting, Airtel Nigeria has finally launched their first 4G LTE mobile network connectivity here in Nigeria. The telco’s company took the launching of their 4G LTE to Ibadan yesterday, at least that’s the location they picked for testing their 4G LTE before making it official.
At the launching event yesterday, Airtel CEO, Segun Ogunsanya confirmed that the telco will be rolling out to other cities across the country “in the coming months”. It was also gathered that Airtel Nigeria runs on Band 3 ( 1800MHz ) which is compatible with almost all 4G enabled smartphones, unlike Glo that runs on Band 28 which only works on few smartphones.
So, if you are staying in Ibadan then below is how you can activate your Airtel 4G LTE to work
How To Activate Airtel 4G LTE
Walk in to any Airtel office closest to you with your current Airtel SIM and request for a sim swap. After the sim swap, if the network is live in your location , your 4G should be up and running. New subscribers can just purchase a SIM. In both cases, Airtel has promised to gift 4GB of data plus an additional 25% data bonus, for the next three months, for plans above ₦500.
You can run a check if Airtel 4G is visible in your location and let me know. Go to your phone
settings – Mobile networks – Network operators – Search networks . Tap Search networks to activate a search. After a short period, a list of available networks will be presented to you.
