Twitter adds new World Cup live events notifications
In the spirit of the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup, Twitter has redesigned its timelines and a dedicated content hub for the World Cup, which will include live video, news stories, and live updates on scores, all during the Search before getting to any tweets about the World Cup.
More changes include showing suggestions or send push notifications for events Twitter thinks you might be interested in following, which means that when you search for a topic, Twitter won’t just surface tweets on the subject, but will highlight if that topic is part of a trending piece of news or give a list of news stories related to a topic.
The aim is to make it “easy to follow an event as it is to follow a person today,” according to Twitter VP of product Keith Colema, also adding “The World Cup is huge on Twitter,”.
And this will help Football fans around to easily get World Cup updates just by searching the World Cup on Twitter.
Although some of the other updates won’t be available for weeks, Twitter is rolling out a dedicated topics page for the soccer tournament this Wednesday.
