Tech4Her, A Nigerian startup represents Africa in hackcelerator program at Silicon Valley

A Startup in Nigeria has made us proud by emerging winner of the AngelHack Hackathon hosted at Impact Hub, Ikoyi, Lagos State. They are a start-up social enterprise driven to raise the next generation of science and technology leaders and train female developers Tech4Her Africa. Winning the Hackathon means they will represent not just Nigeria but the whole continent of Africa at the Global Demo Day taking place at Silicon Valley, United States.

Tech4Her Africa will be joining other startups from 50 cities around the World for a 12 weeks Angel Hackcelerator program.

The AngelHack’s HACKcelerator program is aimed at connecting ambitious hackers with thought-leaders and experienced entrepreneurs to help them become more versatile and create fundable startups.

The organizers of the Hackathon AngelHack are a big name in the pre-accelerator in the industry active in 106 cities around the world. They also have a startup portfolio valuation of $70 million, acquisitions from tech giants such as Google, and industry innovators such as BOX (meaning the HACKcelerator program is a big deal).

Since this is the first Hackathon organized in Africa by AngelHack, Tech4Her Africa is the winners of the maiden edition of the Hackathon. And to qualify, they had to develop Tatafo App- Watson AI-based app that helps university students access information and resources instantly at a click.

The Tech4her team consists of Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards, founder, Tech4Her Africa. The team members include some of who are students of the University Of Lagos – Adeola Akinwale, Dolapo Otufadebo, Chukwudumebi Onwuli, Chiamaka Eguzoro, and Chidera Ofokansi).

The team mentors are Mrs. Fayo Williams (Certified Business Consultant) and Dr. Roselyn Isimeto, a lecturer at Computer Science, UNILAG.
