We already said it as at last year that WhatsApp is working on combating the spread of fake news on their instant messaging app. The company has now come up with a new feature to combat the spread of fake news with the Image Search Feature.

The Image Search Feature will allow its users to know the authenticity of an image through the “search by image” function that allows you to upload a received image directly to Google to get a confirmation and to also reveal similar images with the one uploaded on the web.

The Search image works by allowing WhatsApp to send you a notification that the image will be uploaded to Google, in which after it finished uploading, WhatsApp will open the browser to show you the results relating to the image uploaded.

However, we shouldn’t get our hopes high as the feature is yet to be released but it should be available in no time, so to get this coming update; all you have to do is to keep updating your WhatsApp to the latest version.
