Huawei To Replace Android Operating System with Ark OS
Following the ban on Huawei “the world’s second-biggest smartphone manufacturer and 5G network provider” some days back by the US government to stop supplying the company the needed U.S software and semiconductors in producing its products.
The suspension was put in place following an executive order by the President of the United States after the Chinese company was accused of aiding Beijing in espionage.
Companies and manufacturers like Google, Intel, Qualcomm, Xilinx, Broadcom, and others are already following the order which means that Huawei future smartphones and products will no longer come with Google services or any sort of networking hardware from the US.
According to a new report, Huawei is said to be working on its own mobile Operating System called Ark OS with the codename HongMeng. Although it seems Huawei already has a separate OS in mind since 2015.
The information was gotten from a reported trademark request by Huawei to the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for HUAWEI ARK OS, HUAWEI ARK, ARK, and ARK OS made on May 24.
As reported by TechRadar in what seems to be a rumor;
“Huawei knew this was coming and was preparing. The OS was ready in January 2018 and this was our ‘Plan B’. We did not want to bring the OS to the market as we had a strong relationship with Google and others and did not want to ruin the relationship.”
A recent report suggested that Huawei is in talks with Aptoide to act as Google PlayStore replacement, even though, it is uncertain to know at what stage of development the Huawei’s Ark OS is.
