Facebook Dating launches in the US and 19 other countries
The popular social media platform, Facebook has today received a new feature known as Facebook Dating. This was announced by the Founder, Mark Zuckerberg in a Facebook post earlier today.
The Facebook Dating has today available to US users and 19 more countries which are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, and Vietnam; it’ll arrive in Europe by 2020.
Users who are of 18 years age above can access the Facebook dating feature designed to help them find a meaningful relationship.
Facebook Dating lives within the existing Facebook app, but to use it you need to set up a separate profile. The only information carried over is your name and age. The service will present you with potential matches based on your location, indicated preferences, and other factors. You can also choose to match with people who attend the same Facebook events or are part of the same Facebook groups. One thing it won’t show you are your existing Facebook friends—that option is turned off by default.
Mark also revealed that users privacy and security is already taken care of. And, of course, it’s integrating Instagram into Dating. Which is not surprising since the company has been bringing its platforms closer together in various ways all year.
