Table of Contents
If I may ask, how much do your bank charge you for transferring money from your bank account to any other bank account? N52.50 right? But do you know that it cost them just N5 for the transfer and they charge you N52.50 Naira for the transfer? That’s N47.50 Naira markup.
Now, do you also know that you can now transfer money to any bank account with just N10 instead of N52.50 that your bank charges you? You may now ask how possible is that? Well, it is interesting for you to know that it is possible using OPay.
Another question may come to your mind; what is OPay?
What Is OPay?
OPay is a payment platform developed by Opera Software. The platform enables our users to shop and pay for services and products through their mobile or web browser. OPay allows fast, easy, and secure payments and money transfers.
OPay has been in operation in some parts of the country offering bike hailing service known as Oride/Ostreet. They also offer other services like Ofood, Otrike, and others.
Why Do You Need OPay For Bank Transfer?
Now let say you want to transfer money from your bank account, for example, GTB to a First Bank account and you don’t want to pay the N52.50 transfer charges then you can use OPay to do the transfer at a very cheap rate of just N10. interesting right? but how?
How To Fund Your OPay Wallet?
OPay uses a digital wallet that can be funded through your bank or transfer from another OPay user.
Now, you have to fund your OPay account with the amount you want to transfer to another bank. Meaning that you will first of all transfer/fund the money from your bank account to your OPay wallet before transferring to the person’s bank account.
Well, it is good for you to know that there is a limit to the amount you can fund your Opay wallet.
According to Opay, a new account (Level 1) has daily transactions limit of N30,000 and a maximum balance of N50,000 while Level account can enjoy daily N200,000 and a maximum balance of N500,000. To upgrade from Level 1 to Level 2, it requires to add your BVN and other relevant information and these are in accordance with CBN policy. They also have other levels, Level 3 and agent account.
So now, let say you’re Level 1 user then the maximum amount you can transfer per day is N30,000 which I think is fair enough.
With that, then go to your OPay Homepage then you will see Add Money, click on it then you will show to you that you should add a new payment option which is your debit card.
- Click on add a new payment option
- Click on Debit card (Visa or Master card)
- Then insert your card details which include the 16 digits number, the cardholders’s full name, and the expiry date.
Once you have successfully added your bank card details then you can fund your Opay wallet with the amount you want to transfer.
Note that the lowest you can fund is N50 and no charges for funding your wallet.
